Boston Dynamics

As Spot, Boston Dynamics' four-legged robot, approached its commercial release, the company needed an onboarding guide to help new operators learn handling, setup, safety, and autonomous operation. As project lead, I established the guide's visual language, led layout and art direction, and collaborated with an Accenture illustrator and copywriter to produce a 40-page manual.
Without an existing product brand system beyond the Boston Dynamics logo, I explored several visual directions before developing a restrained identity that reflected Spot's use in construction, public safety, and hazardous inspection. The guide combined blueprint-inspired schematics, a custom icon system, and a navy-and-cyan palette to communicate complex information with clarity and consistency.
